Leaks, Urgency, and Running to the Bathroom? Pelvic Floor Physio Can Help

I help women and men in Hamilton, Mississauga, and online across Ontario to address bladder symptoms without endless Kegels.

★★★★★ Trusted by clients across Ontario since 2012 · McMaster University · Women & Men Welcome

If you’re nodding to any of these, you’re in the right place.

Leaking when you laugh, cough, sneeze, run, or jump

Overactive Bladder-Urgency and frequency — racing to the bathroom, peeing more than 8 times a day

Waking up at night to pee once, twice, or more

Prostate related symptoms: hesitation, incomplete emptying, urgency, frequency, nocturia

Post-prostate surgery recovery — leaks, urgency, or control issues after prostatectomy

Why Kegels aren’t working for you

Many have been told to their kegels, many have tried and not seen the results they were hoping for. Why?

Did You know there are different types of kegels? There are kegels for strength, endurance, range of motion, relaxation, speed, coordination. Which ones are right for you? That’s why we do an assessment to find out and also to make sure you are doing the exercise correctly, if Kegels are right for you.

Sometimes kegels are not the answer, some people require bladder re-training, urge delay/suppression strategies, lifestyle changes, exercises and stretches.

ABOUT THE PELVIC HEALTH LADY

Hi I’m Madelaine

I’m a pelvic floor physiotherapist (MScPT, McMaster 2012) and I’ve been focusing on pelvic health since 2014.

I treat women and men for bladder, bowel, and pelvic pain issues using an evidence-based, nervous-system-informed approach. My clients come to me because they’re tired of being told “just do your Kegels” — and likely have already tried.

I see clients in person in Hamilton and Mississauga, and online anywhere in Ontario.

What Happens at your first visit?

No surprises. No pressure. Here’s exactly what to expect.

Pre-Visit:

You complete an online intake form and questionnaires. I review before your first visit to come prepared.

We talk (30 minutes).

You tell me what’s going on. I listen. I ask questions that probably no one has asked you before. Your history, your goals, your fears — all welcome.

We assess.

A physical exam tailored to your symptoms and explained before we actually start. An internal exam is sometimes warranted but is always optional and only with your full, informed consent. There is more than one way to assess the pelvic floor.

We make a plan.

I explain what I found in plain language and walk you through what we’ll do together. You leave with a clear next step

You go home with homework that actually fits your life.

No 40-exercise printout. Real strategies you’ll actually do.

FAQs

Do I Need A Doctor's Referral

You do not need a doctor’s referral to book, but your insurance company may want one. Best to call your insurance to find out.

I do not offer direct billing services to insurance. All services must be paid in full at the end of the session and an invoice will be sent to you.

If you are a resident of Ontario, Canada, with insurance coverage for physiotherapy services you can submit to your benefits for one to one pelvic floor physiotherapy care and they will send the money directly to you.

I always recommend calling or checking your app for details on your coverage such as: your yearly maximum, how much they pay for assessments and treatments. Do they cover you 100%. Do you need a doctor’s referral. I do not require a doctor’s referral, but your insurance company might. Having these details prior to booking reduces surprises.

I do not accept OHIP, ODSP, WSIB or MVA.

Yes. Men have a pelvic floor too. I regularly treat men for post-prostatectomy incontinence, urinary urgency, pelvic pain, and post-surgical recovery. You are welcome here.

If you have any specific test results or notes from your doctor those are helpful to bring with you. Otherwise all you need to do is bring yourself, an open mind to learn and comfortable clothes.

As a physiotherapist, I have a variety of different ways to evaluate.

While an internal vaginal or rectal exam may provide me more  details related to your pelvic floor, it is not necessary for us to help you.

We will always discuss the options for assessment and treatment so that you can decide what works for you.

This is a common question I get asked.

As a physiotherapist there is no problem if you are on your period. It won’t impact our assessment/treatment and we can make appropriate changes if required.

Assessment (60 Min): $185

30 Min Treatment: $110

45 Min Treatment: $150

Most extended health plans cover physiotherapy

Most clients feel meaningful change within 4–6 visits. Everyone is different and I’ll give you a realistic timeline after your first assessment

In order for me to accommodate all those who need support from me, I ask for 24 hours notice.

This allows me time to schedule someone else in your place and ensures my ability to continue providing services at the current cost.

While we understand things come up without our control and as such we offer one grace for late cancellation. The second late cancel we will charge you 50% of the visit fee. Third late cancel will 100% of the visit fee.

Let’s talk about NO Shows. A no show is defined as not calling/emailing at all and completely missing your appointment. This provides no opportunity for someone else to receive care and no chance for the therapist to fill in that slot. The first no show is 50% of the visit fee and the second is 100% of the visit fee.

You cannot submit cancellation/no show fees to insurance. It is an out of pocket expense.

We accept cash clients!
