A Benefit / Feature

When we get stuck...

I have found that once individuals learn all the techniques, exercises and strategies, most people don’t get in stuck in the “what to do.”

Most people get stuck in the following places:

  1. Just before making the decision to change.
  2. They make the decision to change but get stuck in the how.
  3. They start to implement but are met with resistance whether internal or external reasons
  4. They start to implement  but are met with new challenges (sensations, feelings, thoughts, emotions) and think they are doing something wrong
  5.  Get stuck in what if’s
There is the science and then there is the art of implementing change to make our lives better. Having someone support you in this journey and hold space for you, is very healing.

This is where I often utilize my Somatic Experiencing training to help you find the root of what is keeping you stuck.

FAQ

If you are a resident of Ontario, Canada, with insurance coverage for physiotherapy services you can submit to your benefits for one to one pelvic floor physiotherapy care. If you are taking an online course or are part of the membership, those expenses cannot be submitted to insurance.

If you have any specific test results or notes from your doctor those are helpful to bring with you. Otherwise all you need to do is bring yourself, an open mind to learn and comfortable clothes.

As a physiotherapist, I have a variety of different ways to evaluate. After 2 years of virtual pelvic floor physiotherapy due to the pandemic, I have developed different skills to assess without any hands on.

While an internal vaginal or rectal exam may provide me more accurate details related to your pelvic floor, it is not necessary for us to help you.

We will always discuss the options for assessment and treatment so that you can decide what works for you.

This is a common question I get asked. The short answer is no.

The long answer is, as a physiotherapist there is no problem if you are on your period. It won’t impact our assessment/treatment and we can make appropriate changes if required.

In order for me to accommodate all those who need support from me, I ask for 24 hours notice.

This allows me time to schedule someone else in your place and ensures my ability to continue providing services at the current cost.

While we understand things come up without our control and as such we offer one grace for late cancellation. The second late cancel we will charge you 50% of the visit fee. Third late cancel will 100% of the visit fee.

Let’s talk about NO Shows. A no show is defined as not calling/emailing at all and completely missing your appointment. This provides no opportunity for someone else to receive care and no chance for the therapist to fill in that slot. The first no show is 50% of the visit fee and the second is 100% of the visit fee.

You cannot submit cancellation/no show fees to insurance. It is an out of pocket expense.

We accept cash clients! We do not offer discounts on our services but have a variety of ways that you can access information/support at a lower cost.

The first is checking out our Free mini Bladder Training.

From there if you need more detail, information, exercises and support, you can take our do-it-yourself, self paced online course (coming soon).

This course allows you to access the information/exercises I teach clients in person, but without the one to one individualized care.

If after the course you are still feeling stuck, then you can see me one to one, but instead of us having to go over all the basics, etc, we can jump right into what is keeping you stuck.
